This week on social media, leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shared posts on how challenges can strengthen individuals, how youth can lead and how God wants His children to have joy.
Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared that while life is filled with serious challenges — like the loss of a loved one — the enabling power of Jesus Christ provides a way to become stronger and to “be of good cheer.”
“Christ’s enabling power is manifest in the simplicity that He is there for us — always,” Elder Rasband said. “Come what may, He will be with us, He will comfort us, and He will heal us if we come to Him and draw upon His power to save us.”
In a video, Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman, along with two members of the Young Women general advisory council — Jordan Murray and Ruth Todd — explained how leaders can support their youth in leading.
Both youth and their leaders share a role in planning lessons, planning activities and ministering to others. However, quoting Church President Russell M. Nelson, President Freeman said that leaders should recognize that youth are “unusually gifted” in gathering Israel and should defer to them in decision-making.
“They know what we should be doing,” President Freeman said.
Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared a video in which he invited young adults to join him and his wife for a worldwide devotional on Feb. 18. He said it will be a privilege to speak about “matters relevant to [them].” He invited young adults to prepare by praying for an increase in their capacity to “hear His voice and receive revelation from Him.”
Referring to 2 Nephi 2:25, Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said that God wants His children to have joy in their present lives.
“I hope you will also recognize this truth and feel joy in your life today,” Elder Kearon said.
Sister Amy A. Wright, first counselor in the Primary general presidency, shared how Nephi, following the example of Jesus Christ, learned diligence as he tirelessly did the Lord’s work, despite persecution from his brothers.
“As the Lamb of God, Jesus was willing to submit to the will of His Father,” Sister Wright said, He never wavered.”
Brother Milton Camargo, first counselor in the Sunday School general presidency, posted about the prophet Lehi’s final words to his sons, including that they “choose eternal life.”
Quoting Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Brother Camargo taught that Heavenly Father’s goal is to have His children choose what is right, rather than simply do what is right.
