This week on social: Leaders focus messages on love

President Nelson asks members to follow the two great commandments, Relief Society leaders invite women to their upcoming devotional, Elder Christofferson teaches repentance and Elder Rasband ministers in Maui

This week on social media, leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shared how people can show love by serving others.

As part of a Valentine’s Day message, President Russell M. Nelson, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, invited members to recommit themselves to following the two great commandments: to love God and to love their neighbors.

“Giving help to others — making a conscientious effort to care about others as much as or more than we care about ourselves — is our joy,” President Nelson said.

The devotional will include messages from President Russell M. Nelson and the Relief Society general presidency. Women are encouraged to hold testimony meetings directly after the devotional and to prepare by studying President Johnson’s general conference address, “Jesus Christ Is Relief.”

In his post, Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared a story of an English cathedral that was bombed during World War II. Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, wrote about his recent Provo Missionary Training Center devotional in which he taught that access to the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ comes through repentance.
