Earlier this month, President Russell M. Nelson, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, invited people to “to take charge of your testimony of Jesus Christ” in social media posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
On Wednesday, Aug. 10, he asked on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for people to “Please share with me what steps you are taking to accomplish this. I can’t wait to be inspired by you!”
In less than an hour, the Instagram post had nearly 300 comments and Facebook had nearly 250 comments. Read some of their comments here.
In his posts earlier this month, a video clip from the Worldwide Devotional for Young Adults accompanied the posts on Facebook and Instagram. The devotional was broadcast worldwide from the Conference Center to young adults ages 18 to 30 on Sunday, May 15.
President Nelson pointed to four ways to build a testimony. “Engage in daily, earnest, humble prayer. Nourish yourself in the words of ancient and modern prophets. Ask the Lord to teach you how to hear Him better. Spend more time in the temple and in family history work.”
President Nelson offers this promise: “As you make your testimony your highest priority, watch for miracles to happen in your life.”
At the devotional, President Nelson spoke about identity and divine potential, telling a capacity crowd in the Conference Center that righteous choices in mortality will pay unimaginable dividends eternally. In a social post on July 20, President Nelson shared about labels and true identity that also was part of the devotional.
