New temple presidents

William Clive Barney, 69, of the Layton 2nd Ward, Layton Utah South Stake, has been called as president of the new Madrid Spain Temple, which will be dedicated March 19-21. Pres. Barney's wife, Jean Louise Kasparek Barney, will serve as temple matron. Pres. Barney is a former president of the Provo Missionary Training Center, mission president, stake president and counselor, and high councilor and bishop. A retired Church employee, he also was a mechanical engineer for the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from BYU. He was born in Los Angeles, Calif., to William Clive and Effie Ferieda Trabant Barney. Sister Barney is a former ward Relief Society president, and Primary and Young Women teacher. She attended BYU. She was born in David City, Neb., to Louis John and Hortense Josephine Horacek Kasparek. They are parents of five children.

Meredith Irvin Romney, 57, of the Juarez Ward, Colonia Juarez Mexico Stake, has been called as president of the new Colonia Juarez Chihuahua Temple. The temple is scheduled to be dedicated March 6-7. Pres. Romney's wife, Karen Sue Ellsworth Romney, will serve as temple matron. Pres. Romney has served as stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop and Young Men president. A farmer and rancher, he was born in Colonia Juarez to Irvin Burrell and Nellie Spillsbury Romney. Sister Romney attended BYU, and is stake Primary president's counselor and served as ward Primary president and in the Young Women presidency. She was born in Mesa, Ariz., to Carl and Zelda Maude Lofgreen Ellsworth. They are parents to five children.
