Five new temple presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency. They will begin their service later this year.
Manuel González Calvo, 63, Campestre Ward, Monterrey Mexico Roma Stake, called as president of the Mexico City Mexico Temple, succeeding President Santiago Mejía. President González's wife, Margarita Rodríguez de González, will serve as temple matron. He serves as first counselor at the Monterrey Mexico Temple presidency. He has served as an Area Seventy, president of the Guatemala Quetzaltenango Mission, stake president's counselor, bishop and high councilor. A retired area assistant of the Church Educational System, he was born in Nocupétaro, Michoacán, Mexico, to Roberto González Morelos and Raquel de González Calvo.
Sister González serves as assistant to the matron of the Monterrey Mexico Temple. She previously served with her husband as he presided over the Guatemala Quetzaltenango Mission. She has also served as a ward Relief Society, Young Women and Primary president. She was born in Mexico, Distrito Federal, Mexico, to Juan Rodríguez Raso and Elodia de Rodríguez González.
Carlos Rubén Fernández, 67, Río Negro Ward, Resistencia Argentina Stake, called as president of the newly-renovated Buenos Aires Argentina Temple. President Fernández's wife, Beatriz Amelia Ogayar de Fernández, will serve as temple matron. He serves as first counselor at the Montevideo Uruguay Temple, and has served as an Area Seventy, president of the Argentina Córdoba Mission, regional representative, stake president and patriarch. A retired coordinator for the Church Educational System, he was born in Resistencia, Argentina, to Jorge and Ana Acuña de Fernández.
Sister Fernández serves as assistant to the matron of the Montevideo Uruguay Temple. She served with her husband as he presided over the Argentina Córdoba Mission. She has also served as stake and ward Relief Society and Young Women president. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Antonio E. and Amelia C. Ojuel de Ogayar.
Jay Glen Layton, 62, Thatcher 3rd Ward, Thatcher Arizona Stake, called as president of The Gila Valley Arizona Temple, succeeding President Keith Crockett. President Layton's wife, Edith Diane Howard Layton, will serve as temple matron. He serves as president of the South Dakota Rapid City Mission, and has served as a stake president, bishop, high councilor and temple ordinance worker. A self-employed farmer, he was born in Safford, Ariz., to Glen and Marjorie Phillips Layton Jr.
Sister Layton is serving with her husband as he presides over the South Dakota Rapid City Mission. She previously served as a counselor in a stake Young Women presidency, ward Relief Society president's counselor, ward Young Women president and ward Primary president. She was born in Safford, Ariz., to Alma Verdell and Nelda Jo Howard.
Rodolfo Piñón, 68, Ensign 3rd Branch, Salt Lake Ensign Stake, called as president of the Hermosillo Sonora Mexico Temple, succeeding President G. Farrell Young. President Piñón's wife, Mary Ann Kohlstrand Piñón, will serve as temple matron. He serves in the Family and Church History Mission presidency and as a senior missionary couple. He has served as president of the Mexico Torreón Mission, and of the Mexico Missionary Training Center, stake president, bishop and temple sealer. A retired Spanish professor/department chairman and migrant education consultant, he was born in El Paso, Texas, to Manuel Rafael and Emma Piñón.
Sister Piñón serves with her husband as a senior missionary couple in the Family and Church History Mission. She also served with him as he presided over the Mexico Torreón Mission and the Mexico Missionary Training Center. Additionally, she has served as a ward Relief Society, Young Women and Primary president. She was born in St. Helens, Ore., to Carl Richard and Madlyn V. Yadon Kohlstrand.
Olli Pekka Roto, 66, Tampere 1st Ward, Tampere Finland Stake, called as president of the Helsinki Finland Temple, succeeding President Kari J. A. Haikkola. President Roto's wife, Anna-Kaarina Tuppurainen Roto, will serve as temple matron. He serves as second counselor at the Helsinki Finland Temple, and has served as stake president, Finnish public affairs director and bishop. A retired physician, he was born in Helsinki, Finland, to Pentti and Anna-Liisa Krantz Roto.
Sister Roto serves as assistant to the matron of the Helsinki Finland Temple. She has also served as stake Young Women president, ward Relief Society president, ward Primary president's counselor and gospel doctrine teacher. She was born in Kuopio, Finland, to Aarne Armas and Hilkka Tellervo Jormalainen Tuppurainen.
