With increasing temple activity throughout the Church, the First Presidency has announced the acquisition of two sites for possible contruction of additional temples. One is in Bountiful, Utah, and the other in Bogota, Columbia.
While there are no definite plans for immediate construction, the choice properties were acquired while available.The Bountiful site is on the high east bench, affording a panoramic view of the valley and the Great Salt Lake to the west. A new road is under construction that will afford easy access. The site includes approximately nine acres.
The Bogota property comprisis 3.75 acres in the capital city of Colombia. Bogota was included as a prospective site when new temples were announced in 1984.
New temples are presently under construction in Las Vegas, Nev.; Portland, Ore.; San Diego, Calif.; and Toronto, Ontario.
Enlargement of facilities was recently completed at the Boise Idaho temple and is going forward at the Dallas Texas and Chicago Illinois temples.
Extensive renovation work is also in progress, or soon will be, at the Hawaii, Alberta, Swiss and Oakland temples.
