Refresh your memory of April 2019 general conference with these talk summaries, themes and announcements

The October 2019 general conference is coming up this weekend. To help you prepare, let's take a look back at the messages and themes from the April 2019 general conference.

Messages primarily focused on strengthening faith in the Savior, Jesus Christ and His Atonement. One prominent theme was individual action and accountability, as referenced in talks by the First Presidency and several members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

"As President of His Church, I plead with you who have distanced yourselves from the Church and with you who have not yet really sought to know that the Savior’s Church has been restored," President Russell M. Nelson said in the Sunday morning session. "Do the spiritual work to find out for yourselves, and please do it now. Time is running out.”

In the priesthood session, President Dallin H. Oaks, first counselor in the First Presidency, encouraged the brethren of the Church to think about how today's decisions impact the eternities.

"As we make current decisions, we should always be asking, 'Where will this lead?'" President Oaks said.

President Henry B. Eyring, second counselor in the First Presidency, taught members of the Church in the Saturday morning session how to invite the Spirit to last longer in their families.

"Building faith in Jesus Christ is the beginning of reversing any spiritual decline in your family and in your home," President Eyring said. "That faith is more likely to bring repentance than your preaching against each symptom of spiritual decline."

President Nelson announced eight new temples to be built in Pago Pago, American Samoa; Okinawa City, Okinawa; Neiafu, Tonga; Tooele Valley, Utah; Moses Lake, Washington; San Pedro Sula, Honduras; Antofagasta, Chile; and Budapest, Hungary.
